Food Bank Volunteer Day

March 5 @ 10:15 am - 1:30 pm UTC+0

Join Us for the Community Food Bank Volunteer Day!

Are you looking for ways to contribute meaningfully to the broader community while also forging deeper connections with your neighbors? Sign up to volunteer with your Greens Neighbors at the Community Food Bank of Southern AZ! As volunteers, we will work in distribution as the Greens Neighbors Team. We will handle the shopping carts that are given to the recipients and give out bread, cheese, produce, and various items that may be available depending on what has been donated to the Food Bank. Beyond performing the community service of handing out food, this volunteer opportunity will provide the chance to greet people, practice your Spanish (if desired, volunteers are not required to be bilingual) and make brief connections!

When? Wednesday, March 5, from 10:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Before our shift we will gather in the meeting room for a brief orientation. Once our shift is done, we will gather for an optional lunch at a nearby restaurant. Carpool options will be available!

We have 20 spots reserved for our volunteers on this date and shift.
Please RSVP by February 24 to Nancy Bellew at nancy9450@gmail.com

Preregistration directly with the food bank is not required. John Deitz, Co-coordinator, will register all volunteers on site.

If you have questions, you can email Nancy Bellew at nancy9450@gmail.com.

We will send further details re carpooling and directions to all volunteers, please wear long pants and closed shoes. Face masks are optional.

More Info about the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona

Located at 3003 S. Country Club Road, the Community Food Bank of Southern AZ provides food to 1.6 million Arizonans who do not have reliable access to food for an active, healthy life. Many of these families have to choose between food and housing, medical care or education.

Recognizing that food is just the beginning, they provide nutrition education, offer garden workshops, teach culinary skills and help low-income entrepreneurs with funding and business development planning. They distribute fresh produce and non-perishable food to a vast network of community partners throughout the state. Their mission is to provide a healthy, hunger-free community.
